What age do you recommend starting?
I recommend beginning keyboard lessons at 6 years old for 2 reasons, 1) this age is better for their attention span to complete a 30-minute lesson, 2) the length and strength of the fingers to press the keys down are important factors for considering the age to begin lessons. It also depends on the instrument, some young instrumentalists are able to handle the 30 lessons for band instruments.
How long will it take you to learn to play?
Results are directly connected to how much time each student spends practicing. A beginner student on keyboard should be playing a song after 2 lessons. An instrumentalist may take a little longer depending on the age of the student and the instrument they desire to play.
Why do you write chords on keyboard going down?
The JRJ Chording System is designed as a guide for memorizing chord patterns frequently used in Gospel Music. Because many chord patterns in the series require suspended chords, it is easier to see the changes next to each other.
